Trail Ambassador (TA) Program The WMW Trail Ambassador Program covers the Allegheny Highlands Trail-Maryland (AHTM) portion of The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). Many WMW members also participate in the National Park Service's Bike Patrol Program by patrolling the C & O Canal National Historical Park from Cumberland. The Trail Ambassador Program is a joint effort between the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, Allegany County Tourism, the Allegany County Bureau of Police, the AHTM Rangers, and Western Maryland Wheelman, to PROMOTE and MONITOR biking trails in Maryland’s Allegany County. The purpose of the Trail Ambassador is to actively promote, and to monitor the AHTM. Both functions are equally important and remains the focus of the TA program.
Please read the Trail Ambassador Training Manual to better understand what the program encompasses.
